Resumehog LinkedIn Import: extension privacy
What the extension reads
The extension only runs when you click Capture this profile on your own LinkedIn profile. It then reads the profile text shown on the page and opens your profile's work history, education and certification lists in the same tab so it can read every entry.
That text can include your name, headline, location, any contact details you put in those sections, job and school descriptions, dates, credential IDs and credential links. The extension also keeps your profile URL and the time of the capture.
It does not read your LinkedIn password, cookies, private messages or browsing history. It does not take screenshots, and it does not send anything to an AI service while capturing.
Review before anything leaves your browser
Captured text stays in the extension's session storage in your browser until you review it, confirm it is your profile and click Continue in Resumehog. If you never confirm, nothing is sent.
Capture and transfer records expire after ten minutes and are removed on the extension's next request. Session storage also clears when you close the browser. Each transfer can be used once, only by the ResumeHog tab that started it, and the preview is deleted after a successful transfer.
What happens in ResumeHog
After the transfer, the text appears in the ResumeHog app at docs.resumehog.com for you to review and select as your resume source. From there:
- Remember this resume saves the text to your account so you can reuse it.
- Generating a resume sends the text and your job description to ResumeHog and its processing providers, and stores the source text and the generated resume in your account.
- Networking profile. Saved or generated resume text is also used to build your ResumeHog networking profile: a masked display name, job title, seniority, industry, skills and approximate location. Your email, phone number and street address are never extracted. Other networking members can see this profile unless you turn off your visibility in the networking settings.
ResumeHog uses service providers to run these features: Supabase for account and resume storage, Google Gemini for resume processing and embeddings, and Anthropic for building the structured networking profile. We do not sell captured information or use it for advertising.
Permissions
- activeTab: temporary access to the LinkedIn tab you are on, only after you click the extension.
- scripting: runs the extension's own packaged code in that tab to read the profile and show capture progress. No remotely hosted code runs.
- storage: holds capture progress, the review preview and the one-time transfer in session storage.
Your controls
You can cancel at the review step, remove saved resume text in the ResumeHog app, hide your networking profile, or uninstall the extension at any time. Removing saved text does not delete resumes you already generated. To request access to or deletion of your data, email porkychan@resumehog.com.
